Of the 13 chefs interviewed: 7 chefs cite a burn as their worst injury. 4 chefs cite an incident with a knife as their worst injury. 2 chefs cite numerous incidents as being equally bad. 5 chefs admit to seeking medical attention after their injury. 3 chefs proudly boast of continuing work immediately following injury, even after trips to hospitals (and most of the rest probably did the same). 3 chefs include a “lesson learned” in their description. 2 chefs mention bearing a scar. 2 chefs make a reference to knocking on wood or fear of a jinx when discussing the question. 1 chef, after describing an oven rack burn, claims that the biggest kitchen injury is when a customer doesn’t like the food.
