Sorry, Wendy and Ronald, you’ve got nothing on Rosie & Rocco’s, Corky & Lenny’s or B Spot. We paid all three casino food-court spots a visit — you know, for journalism.
Chef Rocco Whalen honors his mother, Rosemarie, with handcrafted pizzas, sandwiches, salads and pastas inspired by the dishes she made for him as a child. We Tried: Parmesan gnocchi ($9.50). It has a super-fast, four-minute cook time and comes tossed with hunks of local Italian sausage, a sweet marinara sauce, and plenty of ricotta and basil. Sweet Spot: Take a gamble on the cannoli ($3.50). It goes beyond traditional with a candied orange mascarpone filling.
Corky & Lenny’s has established itself as one of Cleveland’s flagship delicatessens, with more than half a century of local service. The casino outpost holds true to form, highlighted by a variety of fresh, made-to-order deli sandwiches. We Tried: The famous corned beef Reuben ($12.95) and a side of cool, creamy coleslaw. If you’re looking for a little kick, a few dabs of Stadium Mustard can really spice things up. Package Deal: In addition to a towering sandwich and your choice of side, the $12.95 combo also snags you a deli pickle and warm cookie to round out the meal.
B Spot is super-chef Michael Symon’s most ubiquitous concept, and there’s good reason for that. The cooked-to-order burgers take at least eight minutes, but they’re well worth the relatively short wait. We Tried: Symon Says ($9). Symon’s namesake burger comes topped with coleslaw, whip sauce, bologna and American cheese. Side Show: The half dozen condiments, including traditional ketchup and mustard as well as the more adventurous Lola ketchup and coffee barbecue sauce, are not to be missed. Of course, this will involve you ordering a side of Lola Fries ($4). Do it.
