New Arrival

Whether you’re mastering the Revolved Half Moon pose or still learning the Happy Baby, Amy Cook says you’ll feel at home at her new Yoga Lounge in Hudson. “There’s no judgment. I just want everyone to enjoy themselves,” she says. The twist is that her studio, which opened in the First & Main shopping area last month, is committed to improving the strength and balance of the community as well. Every Saturday morning, instead of charging for instruction, Cook asks her patrons to make a donation to a local nonprofit. Paws and Prayers, an Akron-based rescue for homeless dogs and cats, was a recent recipient of the studio’s goodwill. Cook also promotes friendship among patrons via group outings to nearby restaurants. “It’s not just about yoga,” she says. “It’s about community involvement, coming together to talk about ideas and enjoying each other’s company.”
