Our inner Trivial Pursuit geek wants to shout out the name Amelia Earhart any time there’s a question with the words “female” and “aviator” in it. We know it’s weak. But how much do you know about the female pioneers of flight?

That’s why a new deck of playing cards featuring historical photographs of dozens of women who blazed a trail through the field of aviation makes for an interesting shuffle.

Created by the International Women’s Air and Space Museum, which is housed inside downtown’s Burke Lakefront Airport, the deck of cards released in December includes fliers such as Blanche Noyes — Ohio’s first licensed female pilot, who took John D. Rockefeller on his first and only plane ride — and Louise

Vamos, Cleveland’s first female commercial pilot.

“Getting the stories out is important to understanding the history of the country and the role of women in these areas,” explains Toni Mullee, the museum’s executive director.

If you want to pick up a deck, you’d better move fast. The museum’s first round of cards, released in 2007, were snapped up by aviation buffs within four months. But with other achievements to highlight, a second deck honoring 55 other women was in order. “Women have done so much in these fields that people don’t realize,” says Mullee.

You can purchase a deck for $10 at the museum’s gift shop or online via the museum’s Web site,
