Angie's Soul Cafe southern

3859 Superior Ave, 216-426-8890. Located in what was once the Town Fryer, this Southern cafe delivers made-from-scratch, down-home classics: smothered pork chops, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. Stop by daily for chicken and waffles. $$

Blue Point Grille seafood

700 W St Clair Ave, 216-875-7827. This Warehouse District staple has been voted Cleveland's best seafood restaurant 12 years running. Serves fresh seafood and thick steaks. Sophisticated, friendly service. Award-winning wine list. H S $$$$

Bricco italian

1438 Euclid Ave, 216-862-2889. Casual, eclectic environment with a menu that features pasta and pizza. Wine list with 200 selections. H P $$-$$$

Chinato italian

2079 E Fourth St, 216-298-9080. Chef Zack Bruell serves a refined interpretation of rustic Italian comfort food. These are not oversized portions drenched in red sauce and cheese. Dishes are simple in ingredients and style but heavy on flavor and presentation. And like his other Cleveland restaurants, expect a fine-dining experience without the white tablecloth pretentiousness or price tag. H C $$$$

824 W St Clair Ave, 216-623-0909. This eatery has the casual elegance of the '40s. Specialties include steaks, chops, handcrafted beers and famous mashed potatoes. H T P $$$$

Crop Bistro & Bar contemporary

1400 W Sixth St, 216-696-2767. Chef Steve Schimoler creates innovative American cuisine that changes with each season. The bistro offers a colorful, quirky and elegant feel with wooden accents, old-fashioned chandeliers and an open kitchen with a counter-style chef's table. H T P C $$$$

Elements Bistro on Euclid bistro

2300 Euclid Ave, 216-802-3131. Bright, airy, on-campus spot for breakfast and lunch. Many offerings are locally sourced, from Ohio City Pasta dishes to kielbasa from the West Side Market.H P $

The Flaming Ice Cube vegan

140 Public Square, 216-263-1111. The first Cleveland location for this popular Youngstown vegan eatery specializes in baked goods, organic fair-trade coffee and fresh fruit smoothies. Flat Iron Café irish

1114 Center St, 216-696-6968. Those seeking a classic Irish public house need look no further than Cleveland's oldest Irish pub, which turns 100 this year. The diverse menu offers a mix of salads, burgers, sandwiches, Lake Erie perch, and daily specials including meatloaf and seafood jambalaya. P $-$$

The Greenhouse Tavern contemporary

2038 E Fourth St, 216-393-4302. There has been no shortage of well-earned praise for Ohio's first green restaurant and its chef Jonathon Sawyer. The French-influenced restaurant embraces sustainability at every turn from its recycled decor and energy-efficient bathrooms to a relentless focus on local, fresh ingredients. H T P C S $$$

Huron Square Deli deli

1150 Huron Road, 216-344-9236. Delicious food with fast and friendly service. Daily lunch specials are under $5, breakfast served all day. Services include breakfast, party trays, catering, box lunches and free local deliveries. $

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse steaks

123 W Prospect Ave, 216-344-2444. Voted Cleveland's best steakhouse. Casual yet sophisticated dining, serving prime aged beef, chops and fresh seafood. Connected to the Ritz-Carlton and the Renaissance Cleveland hotels. Lunch Mon-Fri. H T S $$$$

Market Cafe bistro

1801 E Ninth St, 216-394-0122. Market Cafe manages to offer the options of cafeteria-style eating but with the fresh variety of a neighborhood bistro. Food is traditional American with build-your-own salads, sandwiches, burgers and steaks. Everything at the various food stations is made from scratch. H $-$$

Metro Bar & Kitchen american

1352 W Sixth St, 216-241-1300. Formerly Metropolitan Cafe, the renovated restaurant has been transformed into a casual, urban eatery with two island-level bars, flat-screen TVs, a lounge and a dining room. The menu offers classic American foods such as burgers, flatbreads, fish and steaks, plus more than 50 beers and milkshakes for the over-21 crowd. H P $$

The Nauti Mermaid seafood

1378 W Sixth St, 216-771-6175. A relaxed Warehouse District spot with an eclectic menu heavy on seafood, from live lobster to littleneck clams to seafood quesadillas. Happy hour Mon-Fri 4-7 p.m. H P $$-$$$

Otto Moser's Restaurant american

1425 Euclid Ave, 216-771-3831. Established in 1892, Otto Moser's is Cleveland's oldest restaurant. Now located in the heart of PlayhouseSquare. A variety of deli items for lunch and full dinner for pre-theater dining. H T P $$

Ponte Vecchio Ristorante italian

2100 Superior Viaduct, 216-556-8200. Glass windows line nearly every dining room wall and give diners a panoramic view of the downtown skyline. The view is complemented by upscale Northern Italian cuisine presented in half portions and entrees. H T C S $$$-$$$$

Sans Souci french/mediterranean

Tucky's american

Waterstreet Grill bistro

1265 W Ninth St, 216-619-1600. Old World bistro merges with hip lounge at this Warehouse District restaurant. The all-American menu changes seasonally with a focus on classics such as chicken paprikash and french onion soup. Wine list offers a hearty selection of international wines. XO Prime Steaks steaks

500 W St Clair Ave (corner of West Sixth Street), 216-861-1919. Upscale lounge meets prime steakhouse in this West Sixth Street locale that's a dinner hot spot for business networking and a late-night spot for the bar crowd. The roughly 120 bottle wine list centers around the food, which is heavy on fresh steaks and seafood. H T $$$$

Zocalo Mexican Grill & Tequileria mexican

2071 E Fourth St, 216-781-0420. Authentic Mexican food served in a Mexican environment. The largest tequila selection in Ohio. All items are made from scratch on the premises, including the flour tortillas. H T P $$

Zinc french/bistro

668 Euclid Ave, 216-583-9462. This cozy bistro is modeled after the casual gathering places of Paris. The menu is just as dressed up with inventive preparations of French classics such as coq au vin and steak tartare and a creative lineup of handcrafted cocktails. H T P C $$$
