Most Interesting People 2012: Terrilynn Amos

Terrilynn Amos

Boutique owner, 36

/ Trading spaces / Two and a half years ago, Amos started looking for an open space in Gordon Square but didn’t find anything that seemed to work. “I looked at a few places. The rent was too high.” It wasn’t until last year that the pieces finally fell into place. “I’ve always coveted this spot, so when Danielle moved I knew this would be perfect.”

/ What you’ll find inside / She rotates in new inventory from trendy tops and dresses to popular G-Star jeans every week with prices ranging from $15 to $65. One of her main goals was to keep prices low. “I always hated going, If I buy these jeans, I am not eating for a week. I want people to be able to afford great clothing.”

/ Two trends to try / 1. An empire-waist dress or shirt. “That’s the most flattering on any shape.” 2. Wearing red. “Especially here in Ohio during winter, to add a little color will brighten people’s days.”

/ Fashion risk-taker / Amos says she will try any trend at least once. The craziest one she’s tried? “Big shoulder pads, like the ones you see Rihanna wear. My closet isn’t filled with them by any means, but I’ve definitely got some looks with that.”

/ Her go-to outfit / A sheath dress. “When all else fails, go with a sheath dress. You can add a blazer for a professional setting, but when you go out at night you can take off the blazer and add a fun necklace.”

/ Style icon / Sienna Miller. “She is fearless with fashion. I love the way she dresses. She carries it off so well.”

/ What else Gordon Square needs / A shoe store. “I ask customers what they would like to see here. We would like it to be where you can park and you can go buy shoes, you can go get your hair done, you can buy something for your home and you can buy something to wear.”
