From the picture windows of his eighth-story apartment at 1900 Euclid Lofts, Vincenzo Ruggiero has a panoramic view of ships sailing across Lake Erie. But he keeps his eyes fixed on a point even closer, because he's just strides away from his goal.
"My apartment also overlooks Cleveland State and the library, and campus is literally across the street," says Ruggiero, 39. "That's been a constant motivational factor in working toward my Ph.D. in educational administration."
Ruggiero signed his lease a month before the developer debuted the complex in the Quadrangle area in September 2003. He says his downtown relocation from Middleburg Heights has worked out beautifully for his commute.
"I work as an assistant principal at Midpark High School in Middleburg Heights, so when I'm coming down I-71 at 5 p.m., I'm going against the traffic, so I can get to Cleveland State in 30 minutes," Ruggiero says.
His $830 monthly rent includes such amenities as a fireplace and an in-suite washer/dryer - even parking. Appropriately, his decor mirrors his mission.
Since Ruggiero's coursework is complete and he's working on his dissertation, there's more time to "live a little." Luckily, his location allows for that.
"Playhouse Square is a block away and I really enjoy the theater," he says. "I also entertain friends and family here because I'm so close to all downtown has to offer."
