An Integrated Boyhood: Coming of Age in White Cleveland

Sometimes outsiders see other people the clearest. Richards, a bookish black boy in '60s Cleveland, never felt at home in his neighborhood or educated white circles, but he keenly observed both. Now an English professor, Richards weaves literary and political allusions into his memoir, presenting an insightful eyewitness account of a transforming Cleveland.

Living Arrangements

Walter, who currently lives in Lakewood, debuts her first collection of short fiction pieces. "Living Model" follows an unattractive woman with a beautiful body who is asked to model lingerie, while "The Ballad Solemn of Lady Malena" shadows a stalker who fixates on a teenage figure skater. It's the use of diverse characters like these that give depth to her thought-provoking and, at times, unsettling tales.
