Ask Frenchye

Q: I love the new rocker-chic look. How can I incorporate that trend into my everyday look?

A: The rocker-chic look is the modern interpretation of the ’80s rock ’n’ roll vibe with an updated, sleek twist. The best way to give your everyday look a bit of rocker chicness is to incorporate black leather clothing or accessories into your current wardrobe. An easy way? Pair black leather ankle boots embellished with silver hardware along with something classic and simple such as a pencil skirt, daytime dress or leggings. Adding a black leather jacket, opera-length gloves and skinny leather pants to your clothing mix will take your look from ordinary to edgy. Stores such as Express in Beachwood Place, Aldo in SouthPark Mall and Next on Coventry are rocking this trend.

Q: If I could buy only three things to update my wardrobe for this fall, what should they be?

A: My three fashion must-haves for fall are first and foremost: black leather (see above), whether it is a great jacket or a fantastic pair of boots. Secondly, I’d pick a sheath dress, especially one that’s sleeveless. And finally, I definitely need to have colored or patterned opaque tights to add a splash of color to a basic outfit. All three can be worn together for a sophisticated look or separately to give any outfit a modern update.
