Eco Party

There were ovations all around as Cleveland MagazineΩunveiled the EcoVation Home at a special VIP preview party April 23. More than 150 invited guests received the first look inside the environmentally friendly renovation of an 88-year-old home in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood. Attendees munched on vegetarian delights provided by Web of Life Natural Foods Market and beverages from Great Lakes Brewing Co. as they discovered the "green" improvements to the home at 5909 Wakefield. Partners in the project included Cleveland Housing Network, Detroit-Shoreway Community Development Organization, Cleveland Green Building Coalition and 1he HBA of Greater Cleveland Remodelers Council.

Water Works

Mûre than 2,000 swimmers, scuba divers and snorkelers made a big splash at the 2004 Verizon Wireless Swim for Diabetes, raising more than $225,000 during the three-day event. More than 70 corporate teams participated along with 60 pools through Greater Cleveland. Anyone who raised more than $60 in pledges was eligible for a free ticket to Geauga Lake and other prizes.

Silver Spoons Party

You've cast your ballots. You've read about the winners. Now, it's time to enjoy the spoils of your efforts. The 10th-annual Cleveland Magazine Silver Spoon Awards Party will be held at the InterContinental Hotel on Thursday, June 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. Hosted by WMJI's Jimmy Malone and NewsChannel 5's Alicia Booth, the strolling dinner and wine tasting will include Blue Point Grille, Classics, D'Vine Wine Bar, Lockkeepers, Mallorca, Pier W, Three Birds Restaurant and more. Something in the Air

In this case, where there's smoke, there's bound to be a good time. Inside Business ;agazine and Cleveland Wine School present "A Summer Smoker & Grill Night" June 28 at 5 p.m. at the Hilton Cleveland South in Independence. The evening will include a hands-on grill and smoker class, patio dining paired with grill-friendly wines and a trio of cigars paired with vintage port.
