314 (as of March 12)
As the 10th director in the 130-year history of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, he tweets about zoo events, environmental issues and the occasional adorable photo of his furry friends.
“Did you know that the US is the 2nd largest importer of ivory in the world? @clemetzoo@96Elephants” — Kuhar’s Jan. 23 tweet in an effort to help raise awareness of the slaughter of African elephants.
“When you’re in a conservation organization, you run the risk of being too negative or preachy, so I want people to have fun when they’re thinking about conservation and education,” Kuhar says of his less-than-1-year-old account.
Kuhar’s Twitter style provides the perfect lighthearted balance between what we want to know and what we need to know when it comes to the zoo and conservation. Also: cute pictures of animals.
