Web Sighting

The Editors

Still bummed about "W" winning a second term? Adam Jusko is. But instead of trashing his Kerry/Edwards T-shirt and starting his countdown to 2008, the Lakewood resident created an online shopping portal to help fund progressive causes. In the days beforethe inauguration, was comforting Web surfers with prominent links to online merchants peddling wine, chocolates and shoes. However, the site also links visitors to more than 150 online retailers selling everything from iPods to airline tickets. "Immediately after the election, some progressives suggested boycotting companies perceived to be conservative supporters," Jusko says. "I felt it would be more practical in the long term to create a site where visitors could shop with a clear conscience." It may be a while, though, before Jusko cuts that fat check to MoveOn. Web shopping portals routinely earn pennies on the dollar from each sale originating there.
