Green Way

Going green used to mean hitting McDonald’s this time of year for a Shamrock Shake. But the opening of Rocky River’s new Planet Green (19056 Old Detroit Road), which offers everything from Latex mattresses to dining tables made from antique doors, reminded us of other local businesses that have recently trumpeted all-natural alternatives:

Eco-friendly Dry Cleaning
Local chain The Fussy Cleaners has instituted a GreenEarth Cleaning process, which trades a petroleum-based solvent for liquid silicon. It’s easier on garments and the environment.

Organic Hair Color
Green hair coloring may not sound like a good visit to the stylist, but Rainbow Room Salon in Westlake offers an FDA-approved, organic hair coloring system for $10 extra. www.

All-Natural Dog Food
Pet-food recalls have fueled interest in all-natural alternatives. For a $5 delivery fee, North Coast Dogs will bring hard-to-find brands such as Innova and Fromm to your door.
