In recent years, downtown Cleveland has been becoming more and more a place not only to work but also to live and play. Districts such as the Flats, the Quadrangle, the Civic Center, the Theatre District, the Historic Gateway District and the Historic Warehouse District are well-known as hip, urban destinations for shopping, cultural activities, restaurants, bars and night clubs. Each area has a distinct personality and its own living and entertainment options.
Neighborhood Gem
Lots of people walk down East Fourth Street without realizing it offers more than just great dining and entertainment. “This is truly a neighborhood,” says Christy Harst, director of marketing and public relations for East Fourth Neighborhood/MRN, Ltd. (she’s also a resident of East 4th Street). Four residential buildings house about 300 people. That’s a lot of bustling energy for one street to handle. But East Fourth decidedly is up to the challenge. “Lots of our residents work downtown and choose to live here so they can actually walk to work.” That’s not the only place within walking distance. Step out the door of any of the street’s residential buildings and enter a world of shopping, dining and culture, all without needing to even glance at a car.
