Is general manager of Los Angeles' Courier & Chives, George Seoud was charged with making sure Hollywood celebrities got their favorite restaurant dishes delivered to their doorsteps hot and fast.

Then, about a year ago, he moved back to Greater Cleveland and started a similar food delivery service. The only difference here is it's usually snow that keeps his customers away from their favorite eats, not pushy paparazzi.

"We didn't invent the wheel," says Seoud, reflecting on Food Fetchers' first year in business. "We just felt we could do it better."

Today, Seoud's Food Fetchers service (www.foodfetchers2u.com) boasts a growing list of more than 50 restaurants and a continually expanding delivery area, which now includes downtown, trendy neighborhoods such as Tremont and Ohio City, and nearly a dozen nearby suburbs such as Strongsville, Independence, Berea and Parma.

Orders placed online or over the phone are delivered within an hour. Those who don't want to browse menus on the Web can call for Food Fetchers' 66-page booklet of offerings that range from Winking Lizard Tavern to Royal Saffron to Cactus Joe's Fajitas. There is a $15 minimum order and a $3.99 delivery charge ($4.99 if you're out of the delivery zone). Seoud says it's a small price to pay and his customers seem to agree.

"Cleveland is rich in culture and most of that is expressed through food," Seoud says. "Food Fetchers serves as an extension of the restaurants. No one should miss out on the taste of Cleveland."
