How We Rate: Romance

Edited by Jim Vickers; reporting by Steve Gleydura, Kim Schneider, Beth Stallings, Carly Toyzan and Erick Trickey

Finding Love

You're likely to find love here, but getting married is another matter. We got mixed marks in the Daily Beast's 2011 ranking of the 50 best cities to find love but still finished strong. What saved us is we have lots of singles and lots of places to mix and mingle, snagging A grades in both the singles and social life categories. We also tend to stick together, garnering an A when it comes to divorce. But, it seems those of us who haven't taken the plunge already are reluctant to do so. Our grade for marriage — based on the percentage of the population that walked down the aisle in 2009 — was an F. We also got a big fail for emotional health, which is based on the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index. Cheer up, Cleveland. Maybe you'll meet somebody nice. Big Love in Texas: San Antonio, Texas, topped the list, lifted by its nightlife (A), emotional health (A) and willingness to tie the knot (B).
