Granny Smith apples have gotten greener with envy: Caramel has found another lover. A voluptuous Bosc pear bathed in gooey, homemade caramel, rolled in chopped walnuts and drizzled with dark chocolate is a temptation too great to resist. After years of whipping up tasty treats for their families, Kara Molle of Avon and her Wisconsin-based business partner, Cheryl Boyle, createdKC Candies. Inspired by eating a pear and walnut salad, Molle says they put aside the apples and experimented: “We thought,let’s try it and see what happens. The flavor just worked.” The two women hand-select pears from the grocery and prepare these seductive sweets in their own kitchens before delivering them to local specialty shops, including the Carriage House Bakery and Market in Avon. The Bosc beauties are less tart than the Granny Smiths traditionally used for caramel dipping.At $7 each, this confection rises far above the caramel apples you’ll find on the
