Waters’ World What a great article and tribute to my friend Gary Waters (“The Waters Way,” November 2009). Gary is a classic example of what hard work blended with passion and principles can do. He is truly an incredible role model on and off the court. Not to mention his partner, Bernadette, would be unfair. She is just as incredible as he is. Good for you, Cleveland State. Get behind this guy as a community, and enjoy the ride.

Unnecessary Roughness I rarely ever respond to articles I read in magazines and newspapers, but in this case I can’t remain quiet. I have recently started subscribing to Cleveland Magazine and have enjoyed it thoroughly. However, in the November issue (“Six Things We Endorse”), I was disgusted to read that the editor of Cleveland Magazine was telling readers to stop watching the Browns on Sunday.
It is your job as editor to promote Cleveland as a place to live, work and play. Telling people to give up on one of the most beloved Cleveland institutions is completely contradictory to that. I understand that the Browns are going through a very difficult time right now, and it is very hard to stomach. I find it difficult myself to get through a Sunday without some anger, but for the premier magazine in Cleveland to have its editor tell his readership to stop watching the Browns on Sunday, and to endorse it as policy is, in my opinion, much worse than having another losing season with the Browns.
There is a lot to be said about loyalty, Mr. Gleydura, and many thousands of Browns fans still have that loyalty and will continue to have that loyalty as long as there are 53 brown and orange jerseys dressing 16 weeks out of the year. I feel that our city’s premier magazine should be the type of institution that celebrates that fact.
I think that covers it more appropriately than “they stink,” and I would request that you apologize to the hundreds of thousands of Browns fans who will never give up on their team, even though their local magazine has.
