Seeing Double

Kim Schneider

What started out with 37 sets of twins in 1976 has turned into an annual tradition for the city of Twinsburg. The two-day Twins Days Festival kicks off Saturday, Aug. 6, with a "Double Take" parade through the town square. The event now attracts more than 2,500 sets of twins who come from as far away as Sweden and Pakistan. "I think of it as the largest support group for twins," says board member Sandy Miller, whose twins were a part of the first festival. Attendees can enjoy a talent show, fireworks, rides and games, but most come to witness the sheer number of twins. "People are in awe of seeing so many in one place," Miller says. "There definitely is a uniqueness to it."
