Cleveland Beer Week barrels into town Oct. 18-26. The event kicks off with 16 breweries teaming up on seven small-batch beers. A rotating list of four of the beers is available the whole week at Heinen's growler stations. On Oct. 18 you can sample seven brews at various locations. If you only have time to try a few, make sure it's the following three.
The Brew Kettle and Willoughby Brewing Co.
This doppelbock was brewed using a process that mimics traditional mashing techniques. "A lot of brewers are adding fruit to their beers," says Brew Kettle brewmaster Jack Kephart. "We thought we'd stick to tradition and brew the best doppel we could."

Portside Distillery and Thirsty Dog Brewing Co.
The 10 percent alcohol content and traditional sweet flavors stick close to the characteristics of a Belgian tripel. "It's got a deepness, a dark color and a distinct bourbon-y nose from being aged in Maker's Mark barrels," says Thirsty Dog owner John Najeway.

The Cornerstone Brewing Co. and Lager Heads Brewing Co.
This oatmeal porter incorporates subtle coffee, bacon and local maple syrup flavors. "We wanted to stretch and do something exciting, personally, as brewers and for the drinkers," says Lager Heads brewer Tom Robbins.
