And Another Thing

Jim Vickers
If you’re among the civic cheerleaders still stinging from Mike Polk’s “Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video” (“Most Interesting People,” January 2010), you’ll be pleased to learn the comedian is now setting his sights on the scourge of the Internet age: Facebook abuse. Polk’s PG-13 send-up incinerates Mafia Wars, “poking” and becoming “a fan of thunderstorms” — essentially all the obnoxious things about Facebook. The video, which is part of an online series featuring Polk, had snagged more than 350,000 YouTube views at press time. And, oh yeah, we discovered the video because one of our friends posted a link to it on Facebook. What have we learned from all this? Facebook isn’t annoying, people are.
