Love Notes

by Cassie Neiden

Avoid the predictable Valentine's Day dinner-and-a-movie date by taking your sweetie to a show instead. On Feb. 14 at the House of Blues, Columbus-based band Red Wanting Blue will play a special set list of their most swoon-worthy songs sure to get sparks flying. "People can expect songs for lovers," says guitarist Eric Hall Jr. (Those who aren't into the lovey-dovey vibe can catch the indie rockers in a traditional show Feb. 15 at HOB.) The band members tell us which love songs tug at their heartstrings.

Scott Terry

Simon and Garfunkel

"The idea that [America is] not just a place but a state of mind always intrigued me. So the thought of figuring that out with someone together — that seems like such a beautiful thing."

Eric Hall Jr.

"Our House"
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young

"If I could have a fantasy lifestyle with a significant other — the sitting by the fire and having cats in the yard and flowers in the vase — sounds really great."

Greg Rahm

"Danny's Song"
Anne Murray

"I love that song for what it says about not having money and material things and just having love, so that's my sappy one."

Mark McCullough

"When You Say Nothing at All"
Keith Whitley

"I like the thought when you get to that point in a relationship where you don't feel the need to fill every moment with conversation and just presence is enough. "

Dean Anshutz

"A Good Feelin' to Know"

"This one relates to me. It's about ... the feeling of having a loved one back home and being able to come back. You always know you can come back to your loved one."
