The Agenda

Legs of Fury

Join us in our fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Aug. 21 and 22, a Cleveland Magazine-sponsored team, "Legs of Fury," will ride in the Multiple Sclerosis Pedal to the Point, a 150-mile round-trip bike ride from Berea to Cedar Point and back. Donations will benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a nonprofit organization that promotes research, education and support for those living with MS. For information on the ride or on sponsoring our team, contact Carolyn Bentley, (216) 771-2833, ext. 147.

Tasty Tremont

There will be something for everyone at the second-annual Taste of Tremont street festival on July 18 from 1 to 8 p.m. Located on Professor Street in Tremont's restaurant district, the festival is free and will feature art, entertainment and lots of food. For more information, visit Cleveland Magazine is a sponsor of the event.

Bears Who Care

A crowd of 560 gathered at the InterContinental Hotel for the second biannual Bears Who Care benefit event. High-profile teddy bears, signed by celebrities such as LeBron James, Reese Witherspoon and Cher, were sold in silent and live auctions, raising $234,000 to help The Gathering Place, a cancer support agency.

Celebrity Art

Classy evening of tuxedos, dresses and fine art marked the fourth-annual Celebrity Art Auction Gala held at the downtown Hyatt Regency Hotel. A live auction showcased art ranging from handblown glass to oil paintings and photography created in collaboration by area celebrities and artists. Proceeds benefit educational programs and research for the American Diabetes Association.

Fashion Conscious

From gourmet dinners to pre- and after-parties, the fourth-annual FashionWeekCleveland was topped by a fashion show that highlighted the popular bright colors of the season. Founded by Cleveland-area dentist Dr. Donald C. Shingler, the show featured several local boutiques and designers, and gave Cleveland a glimpse of what's in for next season. Cleveland Magazine was a sponsor of the event.

Showing Off

After months of work, May 15 was the show-and-tell day for the more than 15 area designers who participated in this year's Designer ShowHouse, where each was assigned a portion of a 70,000-square-foot French Neoclassic home in Akron to redesign. The Junior League of Akron sponsored this fund-raising event to benefit programs such as Summit County Children Who Witness Violence and the Children Reads program. Cleveland Magazine and Ohio Magazine were sponsors of the event.
