The annual horse show to benefit St. Paul's Church on Cleveland's near West Side has gone to the dogs. What began 30 years ago as the brainchild of the Friends of St. Paul's has been transformed into a Spring Family Festival held Sunday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Metroparks Polo Field (Route 87 and River Road).

There will still be horses (actually ponies), but this time, kids get to ride them. Children will also enjoy games, the St. Ignatius Circus, a puppet show by the Madcap Puppet Theater, a magician, clowns and face painting. Canine University of Bedford Heights will present several dog events, from agility to freestyle, throughout the day. And the stars of the "Max & Annie" book series, English springer spaniels Max, Annie and Tac, will also make an appearance. The entire family will enjoy food, musicCand fun. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids 12 and under. Cleveland Magazine is a sponsor of the event.

Cornerstone Gala

What else could you ask for in the inaugural Cornerstone of Hope Gala Benefit? The more than 700 attendees enjoyed dinner, casino games, silent and live auctions, a bachelor and bachelorette auction, and plenty of celebrities. The event, held Feb. 28 at Embassy Suites, raised $165,000 to assist Cornerstone of Hope with its mission to provide support, love and hope for those grieving the loss of a loved one.
