Warehouse District: The downtown dining scene lost a fan favorite whenMichael Herschman vacated Vivo and headed east to cook at the Cabin in Aurora last year. Luckily for Cleveland’s locals, Herschman — and his signature calamari —is back. As the new executive chef at theMetropolitan Café, he’s turning to bold flavors with contemporary Latin, Mediterranean and Pacific influences for a “funky take” on the traditional chops, steaks and seafood menu. “Fusion has turned into confusion,” says Herschman of menus that combine too many ingredients. “I’m sticking with the simplicity of the dish.” 1352 W. Sixth St., Cleveland; (216) 241-1300
