The Agenda

The Editors

Northeast Ohio's medical community honored five individuals for outstanding contributions to the field and the community at the eighth-annual Medical Hall of Fame Gala Nov. 3 at Windows on the River.

The 2004 inductees included Dr. John D. Hines, director of The Cleveland Clinic's hematology/ oncology center in Independence; Dr. Phillip Resnick of University Hospitals and director of the Forensic Fellowship Program in the department of psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine; and Dr. Roland Moskowitz, co-director of University Hospitals' Arthritis Translational Research Program. Dr. Frank Nulsen was inducted posthumously.

Catherine Koppelman, vice president of patient-care services for Summa Health System Hospitals, was honored as Nurse of the Year. And George R. Stark, director of the Lerner Research Institute, earned the inaugural Excellence in Research Award.

Case School of Medicine, Butler Wick and Reminger & Reminger sponsored the event.

Take Two

Going beyond the glossy pages of a magazine to the spontaneous world of artistry, the Great Lakes Publishing Gallery Show 2005: Beyond the Printed Page will return to the ArtMetro Gallery, Cleveland's largest commercial gallery. The opening reception, Jan. 21, will jump-start a monthlong celebration of art, music and photography by our talented artists. For more information, contact Carolyn Bentley at (216) 771-2833, ext. 147, or ArtMetro's Joan Perch at (216) 696-1942.

Flashes of Brilliance

The Kent State University community paid tribute to how good deeds and quality students enrich an entire educational environment at the Founders Scholars Ball Nov. 13 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven.

Kent State honored the benefactors who contributed to advance the school's academic programs, faculty and facilities, and the students who have benefited from their generosity. Highlighting the evening was the presentation of the university's Lifetime Philanthropy Award to Kent State emeritus professors Art and Margaret Herrick. Great Lakes Publishing was a sponsor.
