The Best of Cleveland - Old-school Evening

Her eyes widen in anticipation as a Tommy Dorsey tune rises from the 20-piece orchestra. Foxtrotting is fun and all, but we came to jitterbug. I ask her to dance, and we spring to the hardwood floor. This is why we love the Dan Zola Orchestra at 100th Bomb Group. It’s the kind of evening that makes you feel nostalgia for a time you never knew. It’s the sort of place that encourages the formality of asking even your own date for the next dance (and the quality of company where the “yes” is never assured). It’s a place where you can swing and hop one song, then steal a second dance to sway and get lost in each other’s eyes. The worst part of the night is when you realize it’s time to down one last Scotch and head home. 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., the first and third Tuesday of each month; 20920 Brookpark Road, Cleveland;
