Flashback to the SpeakeasyClick to see the full image
From dapper to flapper, bow ties to boas, the Roaring ’20s was the
setting for Flashback to the Speakeasy, the fourth-annual spring
benefit for the Cleveland Pops Orchestra.
On May 1, the
Executive Caterers at Landerhaven ballroom was converted to an
old-fashioned speakeasy, where guests were admitted with a password, a
requirement for patrons of Prohibition-era speakeasies. A silent
auction featured numerous pieces of art deco memorabilia, and a “secret
treasure” grab bag with mystery prizes worth more than $200. Dinner
included Waldorf salad, veal meatloaf and honey-and-barbecue chicken,
as well as a dessert station.
Dixieland and jazz music was
provided by Carl Topilow’s Charismatic Combo, which is composed of
members of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. Sondra Boyd served as event
chair.
