Over 100 were in attendance at Sammy's in the Flats for "This Land is Your Land", a dinner hosted by the Trust for Public Land. The organization, which was founded in 1972, helps secure land to keep it pristine and free from development. They have helped to protect well over 2,000,000 acres of land in 46 states. The Ohio chapter has saved over 10,000 acres here in our state.
Michael O'Donnell, Director of Health and Wellness at the Cleveland Clinic, delivered the evening's keynote speech. Others that addressed the crowd included Robert Echardt, Senior VP of the Cleveland Foundation, George Klein, Chairman of the Ohio Advisory Council, John Debo, Superintendent of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Chrstopher Knopf, Ohio Office Director of the Trust for Public Land.
The meal included grilled chicken with roma tomatoes and fresh mozarella along with summer vegetables. The patrons also go a chance to enjoy the smooth sound of jazz from the "Premiers", an ensemble from Westlake High School.
