Mask-or-Aid BallClick to see the full image
The inaugural Mask-or-Aid Ball, hosted by Carolyn Brown of the
Cavaliers Better Halves, drew about 200 to the Renaissance Hotel
Cleveland on May 2 in support of the Domestic Violence Center.
The
New Orleans-themed evening began with a cocktail hour featuring Mardi
Gras masks, live ragtime music by the Dixie Dandies and the St.
Ignatius Circus Club, a strolling magic and juggling act. Dinner was a
Cajun affair with mashed sweet potatoes, gumbo and fried catfish.
A
live auction was the highlight of the evening, offering guests the
chance to fly with the Cavaliers team to an away game. Coach Mike Brown
egged on bidders with bonuses, including autographed LeBron James
sneakers and a massage from the team’s masseuse.
The Mask-or-Aid
Ball raised more than $25,000 for the Domestic Violence Center, which
seeks to empower individuals, promote justice and mobilize the
community so that all people are free from violence and abuse in their
relationships and homes.
