Michelle Ross and Leslie Marceau needed a new home.
The duo had worked at home store Paysage before it moved from Cleveland Heights to Rocky River last year.
They wanted to make sure their old customers still had an East Side option for high-end decor. They opened Pavilion Home and Floral on Larchmere Boulevard last December, and moved to a bigger location in Cleveland Heights this summer.
“The [Larchmere] space was too small,” says Ross. “We wanted to bring in more furniture lines and bedding.”
The 2,000-square-foot store carries new furniture along with antique and vintage pieces and art. Customers can find transitional upholstery lines such as Lillian August and Mr. and Mrs. Howard, which fit with the neutral design trend that’s strong in home decor. Items such as the Klismos Armless Chair ($1,199) has a two-tone design with elegant curves, while the decorated wood base of the Shelley Sofa ($3,400) can be dressed up with minimal accents.
“We try to keep a neutral palette on the floor so that it appeals to everyone,” Ross says. “We’re seeing a lot more brown coming now.”
Ross and Marceau are also seeing a push for traditional touches. “You’ll have designers with extremely modern interiors,” Marceau says. “But then they’ll take something really ornate and put it into a room.” 12433 Cedar Road, Cleveland Heights, 216-795-5488,
