A makers’ space at heart, Lake Affect Studios also has the soul of a performer. While the former mop factory and dairy creamery now houses 15 local artists, owners Dan and Amanda LaGuardia discovered the building had plenty of other ways people could be inspired. “When we found this place, we knew it would work for everything that we imagined,” Amanda says. After renovating the upstairs, adding a 35-foot bar and securing a liquor license, the 5,000-square-foot space plays host to private parties as well as monthly events including the Platform Concert Series, which features local musicians such as the Gage Brothers and Midnight Passenger, and Cat, Cow & Cocktails, an hourlong yoga session paired with cocktails and small bites. Other upcoming events include an Oct. 22 Halloween party and the Cleveland Bazaar’s Dec. 3 holiday show. “We want to affect the surrounding area, and put off a vibe that other people feed off of, are attracted to and want to be a part of,” says Dan. 1615 E. 25th St., Cleveland, 216-298-9018, lakeaffectstudios.com
