Liars in Fur Coats
Here’s one we bet you haven’t seen before: A dance project based entirely on a professor’s research on the mating habits of squirrels. Baldwin Wallace University choreographers and composers put on an original and humorous play, one that follows a group of biology undergrads and their professor, as the squad enters the wild in search of the round-tailed ground squirrel. But, as the group finds out, they’re not the only one who’s doing the hunting. $10, Feb. 3 & 4, 7:30 p.m., John Patrick Theatre, 275 Eastland Road, Berea, bw.edu

DayGlo a GoGo
Bring out that white T-shirt, because GoGo is back. In celebration of the exhibit where artists use fluorescent paint from the local manufacturer to create striking art that’s on display at the Waterloo Arts gallery, the entire complex — the gallery, Creative Space and Callaloo Cafe gets blanketed in black lights and the bright DayGlo paint flies. That means be ready to get some color in the form of DayGlo face-painting, hairspray and hat painting. Plus, you can get a glowing cocktail. A luminous Manhattan anyone? The KMB Trio makes the vibe even sweeter by spinning tunes from 7-10 p.m. and turning the space into a glowing dance party. $8, Feb. 3, 6 p.m., Waterloo Arts, 15605 Waterloo Road, Cleveland, waterlooarts.org
Sausage Fest
Cleveland’s a sausage-and-beer town. There’s way more beer than we could ever guzzle in one night, but here’s your ticket to finding the best sausage. Ten varieties of locally made links headline this meat up along with a selection of Great Lakes Brewing Co. offerings and tunes from the bearded DJ Kishka. There is also a mustard and relishes station for those who like all the fixings. Have questions for an official Sausagemaster? State Meats owner George Salo is on hand to talk meats. $10 for beer pour and six sausage samples, Feb. 4, 7 p.m., Music Box Cleveland, 1148 Main Ave., Cleveland, musicboxcle.com
The Whale
In a small, isolated town in rural Idaho, a 600-pound glutton is slowing eating himself to death. Estranged from his brainy daughter for years, the recluse decides on a whim to reach out and discovers she’s in a similar state of mind. Darkly funny and oddly uplifting, the New York Observer called Samuel Hunter’s play “an impassioned and arresting clash of minds and emotions.” $25, Feb. 3 - 18, 8 p.m., None Too Fragile Theater, 1835 Merriman Road, Akron, nonetoofragile.com
