The Cleveland Clinic is looking at another major expansion.
Development | By Ken Prendergast, NEOTrans
According to sources, the next round of Main Campus development has advanced far enough that the Clinic is assembling properties and meeting with potential general contractors to prepare for future bidding on these new facilities.
What We Know: The Clinic’s plans include a new hotel, research lab facilities, a new inpatient care bed tower and possibly other caregiving towers.
Some of these upgrades are associated with the planned expansion and upgrade of the Emergency Center at 9105 Cedar Ave. into a desired Level I trauma center.
The Money: The Clinic secured a $50 million grant from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Supporting Foundation toward its development of the trauma center.
Building Up: But given the increasingly crowded Main Campus, the Clinic has reportedly informed general contractors that it wants many of these new structures to be designed to be more vertical than horizonal — at least eight stories high for each.
Cleveland City Council President Blaine Griffin: “They’re looking at some major investments. I’m familiar with some of the general concepts but not the specifics. But I was told to be on the lookout for some major investments.”
Read more about what the Clinic plans to possibly do in the future.

The Rock Hall's Class of 2026 is here.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2026 includes a variety of music-makers who define far-ranging sounds. The inductees were announced in a Rock Hall-themed episode of American Idol on Monday night.
Metalheads, Rejoice: Iron Maiden, considered a longtime Rock Hall snub, finally gets inducted into the museum on its third nomination, in the performer category.
Third Time's The Charm: Britpop band Oasis also gets in on its third nomination, after its 2025 reunion tour, along with new-wave band Joy Division and its continuation in New Order, which will both be inducted as one group.
Other Music Legends: Other inductees in the performer category include jazzy R&B group Sade, “Rebel Yell” rocker Billy Idol, hip-hop icons Wu-Tang Clan and soul singer Luther Vandross.
In The Air Tonight: Phil Collins, who in the Rock Hall’s 2026 fan vote earned the second-most votes (900,825), will be inducted as a solo artist after being inducted as a member of Genesis in 2010.
Of Note: Despite dominating the Rock Hall’s 2026 fan vote with more than a million (1,022,683) votes, R&B group New Edition won’t be inducted this year. Neither will P!nk, who came in third place, nor Shakira, who was in fourth place.
Beyond the performer category, the Rock Hall is inducting even more musicians and industry professionals in other categories.
John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music's highest honor. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony. It’s going to be an unforgettable night.”
Skipping CLE: Unlike past induction ceremony cycles, which have brought the Rock Hall inductions to Cleveland every other year, the Rock Hall 2026 Induction Ceremony takes place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Nov. 14. In 2027, the ceremony is slated to return to Cleveland, after three years away.

From the Editor
Congratulations to the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees! What an exciting announcement and impressive group of inductees.
However, what a bummer that the induction ceremony is skipping over Cleveland this year. Though the museum has previously insisted that the ceremony would swap between its home city and either New York City or Los Angeles every other year, it now seems to be changing that flow — and Cleveland's losing out on another major event because of it. — Annie Nickoloff, Senior Editor
