Cleveland’s 2024 Fish Fry Season Is Here: Our Interactive Map Offers 90+ Choices

In Northeast Ohio, the annual Lenten fish fry season is a tradition like no other. 

Each Friday, dozens of local restaurants and churches open their doors with specials of cod, walleye, perch and so much more. Each one has a specific art to how it’s done, which gives a uniqueness from venue to venue. 

Last year, we talked to members of the St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church. That gathering over fried and baked cod and fresh pierogi dinners marks decades of tradition — one that takes a militia of kitchen hands to feed the small army of hungry mouths.

“We usually do anywhere from 300 to 350 meals a week,” church member Christopher Bej told us. “There’s between 30 to 40 people that work between the Thursday night prep session, and then the Friday day of.”
