Christine Alexander-Rager

President & CEO, The MetroHealth System

Education: M.D., The Ohio State University School of Medicine; postgraduate degrees, The Ohio State University and University of Pittsburgh; bachelor’s degree, Youngstown State University

What Success Looks Like to Me: It means seeing both my personal family and my “Metro family” happy, healthy and fulfilled. It means making tangible inroads toward a better, more accessible and more affordable healthcare system for everyone.

What I Look for in a Leader: I look for somebody who is their authentic self, knows their strengths and leads through them to effect positive change and constant improvement.

What Motivates Me Right Now: I lead the oldest medical institution in Cleveland, one established solely to serve the community. The drive to carry that legacy forward is a powerful motivation.

My Leadership Style: I am a highly collaborative servant leader. I consider collaboration to be my superpower.

An Important Lesson I Learned: You can never listen too much. It’s critical to always prioritize listening over talking. Also, never ignore your intuition. My only regrets seem to come from the times I didn’t trust my gut.
