Jack Alan Bialosky Jr.

Principal Emeritus & Senior Advisor, Bialosky & Partners Architects

Education: Master’s degree in architecture, Yale University; bachelor’s degree, University of Pennsylvania

What I Look for in a Leader: The willingness to listen with empathy and the humility to do any task asked of others. The discretion to know when to lead and when to follow. The self-confidence to admit when in error and the ability to change direction accordingly.

Favorite Quote: “I didn’t get much done today, but I’m going to give it hell tomorrow.” — Travis Gower Walsh Jr., architect, Bialosky employee from 1970-2004

My Leadership Style: I am willing to listen and try to lead by consensus, but I am decisive. I value facts, research and others’ opinions, but I also trust my gut instincts.

What Would Surprise Someone to Learn About Me: I was a classical civilization major in college. I’ve studied five musical instruments. I’m an accomplished sailor and woodworker. I’m still riding my Ducati Multi-strada (motorcycle) at 72. I’ve flown in the Goodyear blimp.

An Important Lesson I Learned: No matter how exasperated with someone else’s ignorance, stupidity or failure to do what you need, it is never ever OK to be rude.
