Industry: Insurance • The company created an LGBT employee resource group in 2008 that currently has more than 1,100 members. All employees receive diversity and inclusion training upon hire.

Industry: Law • A national firm committed to inclusive hiring and diverse cases — pro bono work includes a case that resulted in lowered costs for HIV and AIDS drugs.

Industry: Information technology • The company has held various events in conjunction with Plexus — a nonprofit LGBT business community — and is a certified LGBT-owned business through the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Cleveland Clinic

Industry: Health care • As one of the region's largest employers, the health care system is dedicated to hiring diverse employees, and its office of diversity provides inclusion training and counseling.

Benefits and beyond: The Clinic was one of the first employers to offer same-gender partner benefits. Employees can attend a course examining sexual orientation and religion in the workplace.

Industry: Law • The firm recently hosted a training program for all employees on unconscious bias and participated in various events held by the Greater Cleveland Partnership's Commission on Economic Inclusion.
