It's a Wrap

A scarf is a fall staple. But this season, trade out your normal knot for something a little more complex — the pretzel knot.

"[It] allows you to pull almost any scarf out of your closet and turn it into an ultra-glamorous accessory," says Cori Imbrigiott of the pretzel knot.

Step One: "It is best to use a longer scarf for this specific tie," says Imbrigiotta, who suggests going with a pattern. "[It] adds more interest." Fold your scarf in half, then drape it around your neck so that its loop rests higher on your chest than its tail end.

Step Two: Take one of the tail ends and pull it under and then through the loop. "This is where we are beginning to build volume," Rutter says.

Step Three: "This time, reverse it," Rutter says. Cross the other tail end over top of the loop and pull it through to underside of the scarf.

Step Four: Pull both tail ends to tighten the knot — but not too tight. "The fuller the better," says Imbrigiotta. Style your look with simple accessories. "Make sure you tone down the rest of your outfit. Too much is going to look too distracting," says Rutter.
