Léna Crain, Ph.D., BW’s vice president for student experience and dean of students since 2023, says young leaders need mentors who “encourage wild ideas while challenging them to think critically.” She calls it a gift and a privilege to care for BW students the way she was so generously mentored, and she says an ethos of deep care and personal mentorship is part of what sets BW apart.
Crain understands that many of today’s college students choose their schools based on cocurricular experiences and career opportunities. BW has a strong legacy of success in this area and uniquely provides the conflict transformation and civil discourse skills necessary for preparing future leaders.
“I love that no two days are the same, from celebrating students’ success to working together through their most uncertain moments,” says Crain. “I am resourceful and reassuring, and I can calmly take in a lot of information and respond to tough situations without panic.”
